Early Life
Kai Zháou was born on April 7 1999 at the Takeda General Hospital in the busy city of Kyoto, Japan. She was raised by her birth mother and father along with her brother. At an early age Kai's parents adopted another daughter to help with Kai's social issues, she was often bullied and teased in school so they thought it might help her. Kai and her new sister Jessica got along extremely well and rarely fought, she had the same relation ship with her brother. The year 2003 came around everyone's life changed forever, portals opened up in the sky and strange aliens started terrorizing the streets. Luckily the Zháou family was immediately offered a spot in a high security quarantine zone due to her fathers elevated status in the Japanese PM Cabinet. Things seemed fine until the quarantine zone had a breach and Vortigaunts slaughtered almost half of the people hiding there before they were taken down (including Kai's mother).
Mid Life
By the year 2018 most people had adjusted to their new life and started working and getting along with Vortigaunts and the new creatures inhabiting Earth. Kai attended the Kyoto University Hospital to get a Doctoral Degree and was already on her second year. In her spare time she worked at a local fast food shop to make money, as well as volunteered at a refuge to assist in helping Vortigaunts (she quickly learned to not hold grudges due to her kind nature.). In the year 2022 the Universal Union stormed Earth, out of no where they came and started a global attack, the world was in chaos. Nations banded together to hold off the attackers but in the short the war was over in a short 7 hours. Terrified Kai survived the war by hiding in her Campus dorm with her brother, throughout the hours she could hear explosions and screaming. It happened ever so quickly. Once again it was time to adjust to a new life, the Universal Union (or as the Citizens called them: 'the Combine'.) were harsh dictators that controlled all of Earth, teh Earth Ambassador Dr. Wallace Breen played a friendly face of the Combine but a handful of people knew it was all fake, one of those people being her father. Only after 2 days of being completely controlled the Universal Union started to crack down on immediate amputations. In her house they were lined against the wall answering questions, it was decided that both her parents were fir for amputation. In front of her face her mother was killed for being associated with the Military and her father was killed for being a possible Anti-Citizen. Devastated her brother lashed out attacking the Soldiers and quickly being hauled off. Next thing Kai knew she was pushed out of City 8 and moved somewhere that she could only assume was Sweden, the other 'Citizens' refereed to the City as City 18.
